I was born in a suburb of Berlin, former
GDR.
I started painting in the age of fifteen and had my first successfully
selling exhibition at sixteen. My years as a young woman I spend
to a good bit in the legendary Russenbar and after this burned down
I moved on to the Dezibel, as a bartender (saftschubse) and the
saxplayer of it's sunday sessions.
I also had my two very loved bands
lensflare- rest in peace there will never be one like you again-
and the fickenden turnschuhe- with Anika as the leadsinger-
probably themost craziest actress and most talented puppetplayer mankind
has ever seen.
In 2002 I moved to South Tirol and studied woodsculpturing for the next two years. I learned to understand the human body and 3-dimensional forms. In this beautiful nature in the middle of the Dolomites I learned to talk to trees, especially telling the unobtrusive fir ladies that they are beautiful, too, I learned to be alone and did not feel lonely and to hike up ... kms within two hours. There in North Italy I started competing at snow carving events in the beautiful mountain resorts of San Martino di Castrosssa and San Virgilio. Now I have been captain of Team Germany for the last 3 years in USA Breckenridge, Sapporo Japan and Harbin China and have competed internationally winning medals.
In 2004 I came back to Berlin and wound up in
a major project of renovating the backyard of a Jugendstil house
in Berlin center city. The project was continued in 2005 with the
highly challenging restoration of the historic front fassade. My boss Stewart
T. Traill is the kind of person who runs the whole project on his
own ( in a foreign country) with a few skilled people, the tenants
and a bunch of helpers from the neighboorhood and accomplishes outstanding
results. We are proud of what we achieved.
In 2004 and 2005 I was introduced to the techniques of sand sculpting by the great festival "Sandsation" in Berlin. In 2006 I was hired by Stefan Hiene's agency "Sandevent" to build and carve the sand sculptures for FIFA's World Cup in 2006. To be so directly involved in that vibrant party of global friendship was one of the most impressive experiences of my life.
In 2005 I was lucky to meet Odd Nerdrum
in Iceland and later that year to spend some time with him in his
studio in Norway. He is the best painter alive and the only one
I ever wanted to be thought by. Although our time was short I am
grateful to have experienced him and his craft, he gave me a high
standard base I founded my self studies on.
Stewart and I have continued to collaborate since 2004, and we are setting up for the unique art form of glass casting. It is quite challenging and I believe beautiful. Pictures are available in the link Construction/ Interior. |
